Opal (Wimer) Gum, 81, of Hightown, died Saturday, October 19, 1996 at Bath County Community Hospital.
She was born April 3, 1915 at Blue Grass, a daughter of Ambrose and Blanche (fox) Wimer. She married Robert F. Gum on September 23, 1933.
She was a member of Hightown United Methodist Church.
Surviving along with her husband are two daughters, Dorothy G. Warner of Blue Grass and Corena Ritchie of Richmond; a son R. Leo Gum of Hightown; two sisters, Glenna W. Colaw of Blue Grass and Greta W. Gum of Waynesboro; a half sister, Evelyn W. Harper of Ohio; a brother Virgil R. Wimer of Blue Grass; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Revs. Richard Gibson and Joe Bradford with burial in Hightown United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandchildren Robert and Timothy Warner, Tena W. Turner, Crystal W. Stephenson and Roger L. and Thomas D. Ritchie.
Honorary pallbearers will be friends attending the service.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 this evening at the funeral home.
