Olivia “Libby” Lee Hammer, 69, of Monterey, passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at The Springs Nursing Center. She was born March 26, 1947 in Harrisonburg, beloved daughter of the late Carl Eugene and Betty Estelle (Warner) Hammer.
Libby was a member of Monterey United Methodist Church and Highland County Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. A lifelong Elvis fan, she looked forward to her Friday hairdo as well as her 3 p.m. coffee breaks daily with her mother at the Maple Restaurant.
“Sis” is survived by her beloved brothers, C.W. Hammer and Dale Hammer, both of Monterey; aunt Rosa Lou Hahn and a number of nieces and cousins. She also leaves behind her devoted caregiver, Treva Hull and family and special friend, Kathy Gutshall.
In addition to her parents, Libby was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Hammer and her great-nephew, Dustin Layton.
A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m., Sunday, September 4, 2016 in Monterey Cemetery with the Pastor Chip Hill officiating.
Active pallbearers will be Bill Wagner, Elmer Waybright, Alan Lowry, Pat Hull, Donald Doyle, Richard Waybright, Jerry Warner and Perry Warner.
There will be no public viewing or visitation.
