Norma Jean (Smith) Hiner, 49, of West Augusta, passed away Friday, September 6, 2019 at her home.
She was born in Hot Springs on September 19, 1969 a daughter of Janet Virginia (Griffin) Smith of Woodbridge and the late William Roy Smith.
A 1987 graduate of Woodbridge High School, Norma loved to travel and especially enjoyed delivering chicken coops built by her family. She was an animal lover and spent many days at area dog shows. Above all, Norma will be remembered as a caring, loving and nurturing wife, mother and friend to many.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 27 years, David Hinkle Hiner Jr. of West Augusta; daughter, Jennifer Marie Hiner of Johnstown, Penn.; brother, William Roy Smith Jr., of Stafford; sister, Sandra Sue Smith of Staunton; very special nephew, Caleb James Roberson; several nieces; a great-nephew; uncles, Carl and Pete Griffin; as well as special friends Dennis Mitchell and Carolyn Sutton, Norma’s sidekick.
She was predeceased by her father; and infant daughter, Meggin Lynn Smith, on June 28, 1991.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, September 9, 2019 at Obaugh Funeral Home, with pastor Mike Puffenbarger officiating. Burial will follow in Williamsville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Monday at the funeral home.
Active pallbearers will be Shannon and Caleb Roberson, Dennis Mitchell, Charlie Grady and Jesse Gibson.
