Nora Lee Gum, 84, died Saturday, September 11, 1999 at the Springs Nursing Center.
She was born September 24, 1914, at Doe Hill, a daughter of Wesley Armstrong and Maude Simmons.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Highland County Senior Citizens.
She married William Robert Gum on August 23, 1932; he preceded her in death on March 23, 1992. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Velda R. Hopkins; and seven brothers and sisters.
Survivors include two daughters, Hilda L. Puffenbarger of Staunton and Shirley M. Triplett of Blue Grass; two sons, Richard Lee Gum of Woodbridge and William R. Gum Jr. of Monterey; a sister, Mildred Rigney of Sangersville; four brothers, Arlie Simmons of Swoope, Herbert Simmons of Buchanan County, Van Simmons of McDowell and Roy Simmons of Nokesville; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Obaugh Funeral Home. Burial will be at Puffenbarger Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tracy and Billy Triplett, Ronnie, Ricky and Ray Gum and Carl Simmons.
Honorary pallbearers will receive friends from 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.
