Nola Mauzy

Nola Blanche Mauzy, 90, of Staunton, died Sunday, August 19, 2007 at Kings Daughters Community Health and Rehabilitation Center.  She was born June 18, 1917 in Blue Grass a daughter of the late Otto and Nannie (Fleisher) Harper.

Mrs. Mauzy was a housewife. She was a member of the Verona United Methodist Church; the Golden Deeds Sunday School class, the United Methodist Women and also a member of AARP, Staunton Chapter 1650.

On December 5, 1933 she married, Roscoe Mauzy, who preceded her in death on February 23, 1985.  She was also predeceased by a son, William L. Mauzy; an infant daughter, Betty Jean Mauzy; a sister, Dona Rodgers and two brothers, Carl and Roscoe Harper.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Charlotte and Robert Ritchie of Verona and Julia Ann and Richard Evick of Harrisonburg; two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Phyllis Mauzy of Verona and Michael and Vickie Mauzy of Hightown; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; a sister, Josephine Stover of Harrisonburg and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at the Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell by Pastor Charles Reynolds and Pastor James Harris.

Burial will be in the Blue Grass Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be John, Charles and Robert Mauzy, Jed Alger, Dareld Puffenbarger and Jeffery Marshall.  Honorary pallbearers will be the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m .Tuesday at the funeral home.
