Nellie Lee (Waybright) Fleisher, 85, of Harrisonburg, passed away Sunday, October 20, 2024 at Life Care Center, New Market.
She was born June 23, 1939 in Highland County, a daughter of the late William Garnett and Lucinda Jane (Hedrick) Waybright.
Following graduation from Monterey High School, on August 10, 1957 she would marry John Raymond Fleisher.
Mrs. Fleisher was retired from “the old” Rockingham Memorial Hospital, but also enjoyed working at home, particularly in her flowers and during the holidays preparing meals for the family. Additionally, she enjoyed time spent traveling on bus trips as well as going out to eat. In her spare time, she liked to work on word puzzles, crocheting, as well as reading. Above all else, she will be remembered as the heart of her family, who selflessly sacrificed to provide for her children and always ensured a loving home.
In addition to her parents and loving husband of 58 years, she was predeceased by a grandson, Joshua Cole Fleisher; six sisters, Mary Wagoner, Edith Fleisher, Alda Arbogast, Allene Ludholtz, Rizpah Boyden and Catherine Vandevander; as well as three brothers, William G. Waybright, Robert Simmons and Melvin Waybright.
She is survived by two daughters, Janet Marie Phillips and husband, Dennis of Keezletown, and Peggy Lee Fleisher of Keezletown; two sons, John Wayne Fleisher and wife, Betty Jo of Harrisonburg, and William Douglas Fleisher of Rockingham; six grandchildren, Gregory Fleisher of Keezletown, Kelly Morris of Keezletown, Lindsay Smith of Weyers Cave, Jason Fleisher, Sarah Orebaugh and husband Ryan of Broadway, and Stirling Fleisher and partner, Brea, of Broadway; nine great-grandchildren, Dakota and Mackenzie Fleisher, Tyler, Kara, and Colby Morris, Cameron and Jayden Smith and Reese and Cole Orebaugh; sister-in-law, Irene Waybright of Woodstock; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m., Thursday, October 24, 2024 at Obaugh Funeral Home with pastor William Statton officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Grass Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Stirling Fleisher, Dakota Fleisher, Tyler Morris, James Waybright, John Waybright, Greg Fleisher, Westley Fleisher and Jason Fleisher.
Memorial contributions may be made to Blue Grass Cemetery, 3042 Blue Grass Valley Road, Blue Grass, Va. 24413.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Life Care Center New Market for their care and support.
