Nancy Ann (Simmons) Hatcher, 75, of Churchville, passed away Thursday, February 1, 2024 at Shenandoah House of Augusta Health.
She was born June 21, 1948 in the Clover Creek Community of Highland County, a daughter of the late Virgil Roscoe and Elizabeth McDonald (Hamilton) Simmons. On December 31, 1966 she married Russell Lee Hatcher Jr., who predeceased her February 16, 2015.
Nancy had retired as a printer within the photography industry, and while working was known for her strong work ethic and absolute love of her job. She was also an extremely generous person, always placing the needs of others before herself. Among the things she truly enjoyed where her outings to eat at buffet restaurants, shopping, and most especially visiting with family and friends. But above all else, Nancy will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife and mother.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her beloved son, Danny Lee Hatcher; sisters, Ruby Gail Simmons, Faye Cleek, Virginia Neff, Edna Mae Booth and Betty Hodge; and brother, Wayne Simmons.
She is survived by her sister and best friend, Mary Rexrode of Churchville; as well as a great number of nieces and nephews and extended family members.
A graveside funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Monday, February 5, 2024 in McKendree Cemetery, McDowell, VA.
