Nancy Harris Malcolm, 65, of 935 Battlefield Bluff Drive, New Market, died Saturday, September 2, 2000 at her home.
She was born January 15, 1935, at Manassas, a daughter of Lester E. and Irene (Stroh) Harris. She was graduated from Takoma Academy in Takoma Park, Md. and earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing education at Columbia Union college in Takoma Park.
She married Elmer Lyle Malcolm on July 22, 1956, he survives.
She was a homemaker who worked part-time as a nurse for short periods. She ministered with her husband, a pastor, for 39 years.
When her husband was president of the Northern New England Conference of Seventh-Day Adventists from 1986-1997, she worked as a secretary.
She developed ALS, Lou Gehrig’s Disease, in 1994. For the past 19 months, her body had been paralyzed.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Donna Holbrook.
Survivors include her husband; two sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen and Gretchen Malcolm of Westminister, Md.; and Michael and Sharon Malcolm, of Silver Springs, Md.; three brothers, Lester Harris of Urbanna, Richard Harris of New Market, and Gordon Harris of Redding, Ca.; and two grandchildren, Levi Malcolm and Mercedes Malcolm.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Highland Seventh-Day Adventist Church in McDowell with Herbert Broeckel, Richard Harris, Donald Bostian and Rick Greve.
