Montgomery Reamer McClung Hunter Linkous, 85, formerly of McDowell, died Friday, Augusta 17, 2001 at Augusta Medical Center.
She was born July 17, 1916, in Highland County, a daughter of Louie Edwin and Bessio Granton (Pullin) McClung.
Her husband, Brig. Gen. (Army, retired) Kenneth Terrell Linkous preceded her in death on March 12, 1999.
She retired from DeJarnett’e as the assistant administrator. She was a charter member of the St. John’s United Methodist Church and a member of the Sarah Murray Lewis Chapter of the DAR.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law Terrell (Linkous) and David Hindman of Williamsburg; a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. William Snowden and Patricia (Link) Hunter of Staunton; two sisters, Mary (McClung) Leake and Frances (McClung) Buchanan, both of Arlington; four grandchildren, Benjamin T. and Grace M. Hindman, Anne Hunter Bennett and William Lee Hunter; a great-grandson, Johnathan Hunter Shover and a number of nieces and nephews.
A service will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell by the Rev. David M. Hindman with burial in Clover Creek Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be William Lee Hunter, Benjamin Terrell Hindman, Charles McClung Leake, Brandon Cornell Skell, Bruce Vance, Lesis Wilson Shumate, Basil Bosserman and John Vance.
Honorary pallbearees will be Ellie Bennett, Jonathan Hunter Shover, Gregg Skall and Dan Zepeta.
A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the St. John’s United Methodist Church in Staunton by the Revs. Richard Ecklund and David M. Hindman.
