Mona Helmick

Mona Mae Helmick, 83, of Staunton, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012 at Envoy of Staunton.
She was born Nov. 25, 1928 in the Possum Trot community of Highland County, a daughter of the late Russell Edward and Mary Emma Ervine Bowers.
Mrs. Helmick retired from Genesco after 30 plus years of service and enjoyed playing cards.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Ray Helmick; her son, Martin Ray Helmick; and her brother, Russell Judy Bowers.
She is survived by a son, Garland S. Helmick of Staunton; two sisters, Thelma Arbogast of Richmond and Dorothy Vandevander and husband, Arnold of Monterey; brother, Melvin Bowers of Franklin, W.Va.; and special friends, Sandy Allen and Jessica Downs.
A graveside service will be conducted by the Rev. Darren Massey at 3 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 6, in the Rexrode-Bowers Cemetery, Possum Trot Road, Monterey.
