Moffett “Doc” Brown Turner, 94, died Monday, April 23, 2001 at Augusta Medical Center.
He was born September 5, 1906, at Mustoe, a son of Joseph and Rosa Robertson Turner.
He was a member of Green Hill Church. He was a farmer and logger and he retired from the Virginia Hot Springs Company in Hot Springs.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Lottie May (Doyle) Turner, on May 4, 1981; a son Moffett H. Turner Jr. on December 20, 1996; a brother, Boyd Turner; two sisters, Ollie White and Lucy Campbell.
He was the last member of his immediate family.
Survivors include two daughters, Freda Bird of Blue Grass and Charlotte M. Griffin of Dunmore, W.Va.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
A service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Green Hill Cemetery but the Rev. Robert L. Haley.
Pallbearers will be George Bird, Leo Gum, John Hoover, Bardon Warner, Herbert Lightner and Lynn Townsend. Friends may call at Obaugh Funeral Home.
