Mildred Mullenax

Mildred M. Mullenax, age 83, of Blue Grass, died Wednesday, December 6, 2006 at the University of Virginia Medical Center.   She was born June 2, 1923 in Highland County a daughter of the late Howard and LeJetta (Rexrode) Mullenax.

On November 22, 1940, she married Joseph T. Mullenax, who preceded her in death on January 4, 1998.  She was also predeceased by two sons, Joseph Milton and Donald Mullenax.

Mrs. Mullenax was a retired seamstress, having worked at Aileen, Inc. in Monterey and at Connie’s Sportswear in Franklin, WV.  She was a member of Blue Grass United Methodist Church; a lifetime member of Blue Grass Ruritan Club and a member of Franklin Women of the Moose #812.

She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Bennett of Riverton, WV and Janet Mullenax of Blue Grass; two sons, Larry Mullenax of Truth or Consequences, NM and Richard Mullenax of Blue Grass; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Howard Newton Mullenax of Liberty, NC and two sisters, Betty Lou Woodford and Kathleen Colaw, both of Durbin, WV.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday, December 9, 2006 at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell by the Rev. Andre Crummett and Rev. Richard Gibson.

Burial will be at Blue Grass Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Dustin Eye, Chris Swecker, Isaac, Jimmy and Randy Bennett, James, Derrick and Joseph Shea Mullenax.

Honorary pallbearers will be friends attending the service.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
