Michael Wayne Simmons, 34, of McGaheysville, died Friday, May 21, 2004, at his home as a result of a house fire. He was born May 24, 1969, at Harrisonburg, a son of the Othelia Odell Hamrick Simmons.
He had attended the former Harper Chapel United Methodist Church. He had worked on a poultry farm.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Odell Simmons, on June 30, 1990, and an infant son, Skyler Michael Reedy on May 21, 2004.
He is survived by his father, Harold Simmons, Sr. of Dayton; a daughter, Brittany Simmons of Franklin, W.Va.; a son, Wesley M. Simmons of Franklin, W.Va.; six sisters, Wanda Warner and husband, Steve of Franklin, W.Va., Debra Nelson of Franklin, W.Va. Sharon Mullenax and husband Richard of Blue Grass, Patty Tidd Seabolt and husband, John of Franklin, W.Va., Betty Simmons of Petersburg, W.Va., and Kimberly Smith of Harrisonburg; a brother, Harold “Lucky” Simmons Jr. and his wife, Brenda L. of Dayton; a former wife, Patricia A. Simmons of Franklin, W.Va.; former father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Susie White of Sugar Grove, W.Va., and a former brother-in-law and wife, Patrick and Connie White of Franklin, W.Va.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, May 28, 2004 at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell by the Rev. Dan Ludwig.
Burial will be private.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, May 28, 2004, the funeral home.
