Michael Lee Cauley, age 67, of Hot Springs, passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

A son of the late Eunice Marie Cauley, he was born February 13, 1957 in Bath County.

Following high school, Michael began his career with The Homestead, initially working within the golf maintenance department and ultimately as a cook. His tenure with The Homestead spanned over forty years and would have continued if not for his decline in health.

Mike enjoyed bowling and playing golf, as well as time spent hunting and fishing. He will be fondly remembered as “the life of the party” who enjoyed hanging out with friends and having a good time at his home, “Gunsmoke”. He was known for being a straight shooter, always willing to tell you like it was -whether you liked it or not.

In addition to his mother, he was predeceased by a brother, Donald Paul Kellison; and a sister, Patty Loraine Kellison.

Surviving family members include his son, Michael Shane Cauley of Hot Springs; his daughter, Kristie Tucker and husband, Gary of Potts Creek; three grandchildren, Caleb, Noah, and Aaron Tucker, all of Potts Creek; a great-grandchild (who he would have welcomed this spring); a brother, Johnny Kellison and wife, Robin of Woodstock; a sister, Brenda Robertson and husband, Calvin of Hot Springs; his uncle, Paul Franklin Cauley of Roanoke; nephew, Kevin Robertson of Avon Park, Fla.; and his children, Kyle Robertson of Covington and Savanna Reed of Orlando, Fla.; nieces, Nikki Cuya of Edinburg and Amanda Hazelwood and husband, Roger; and their daughters, Caleigh, Zoee, and Embrie Hazelwood, all of Hot Springs; a special friend, Barbara Bonney of Hot Springs; as well as his canine companion and “other daughter”, Nippie.

At Michael’s request, his body was cremated and the family will spread his ashes at a later date.

Memorial donations to offset end of life expenses may be made to the Michael Cauley Memorial Fund, c/o Blue Grass Valley Bank, PO Box 516, Monterey, VA 24465.
