Melvin Lewis Johnston

Melvin Lewis Johnston, age 79, of Monterey died November 7th, 1992, at his home.

Mr. Johnston was born February 20th, 1913, in Monterey and was a son of the late Harry S. and Bessie Dickenson Johnston. 

He was retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation and had been a trustee of the Blue Grass Cemetery since 1946.

On July 21st, 1932, he married the former Ocie L. Wimer, who lives at Oak Hill Nursing Home in Staunton.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Julia J. Gutshall of Elkhart, Ind.; a son, David W. Johnston of Monterey; two sisters, Eula Harris of Maryland and Annabell Tinney of Colonial Heights; and four grandchildren.

The Rev. Jerry Ginn will conduct a graveside service at 3. P.m. Tuesday at the Blue Grass Cemetery.

The body was cremated.
