Mazie Simmons Moyers, 82, of Monterey, died Thursday, October 17, 2002 at her residence. She was born April 26, 1920 at Mustoe a daughter of Luthur and Rachael Simmons Simmons.
On October 14, 1939, she married Harry Edward Moyers.
Mrs. Moyers was a member of Highland Baptist Church and the Presbyterian Womens Circle. She retired from Aileen.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Nora Bibb and Sue Botkin.
She is survived her husband, Harry of Monterey and three sons and daughters-in-laws, Gene and Alberta Moyers, Kyle and Joy Moyers and Rodger and Linda Moyers, all of Monterey; a sister, Blanche Geiger of Marlinton, W.Va.; a brother, Clement “Poss” Simmons of Monterey; five grandchildren, Eddie, Melissa, Barry, Perry and Jamey Moyers; and five great-grandchildren, Shana Roberts, Whitney Hunt, Lindsay, Carrie and Ransom Lee Moyers.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Sunday, October 20, 2002 at the Highland Baptist Church by the Rev. Jerry Ginn and the Rev. Larry Turner.
Burial will be in the Green Hill Cemetery near Churchville.
Active pallbearers will be Jamey, Perry, Barry and Eddie Moyers, Bob Simmons and Gideon Hiner.
Honorary pallbearers will friends attending the service.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday evening at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell.
