Mary Sullenberger Richards, 84, died Wednesday, December 5, 2001 at her residence.
She was born April 6, 1917 at Monterey, a daughter of Don and Madge (Seybert) Sullenberger.
She was a graduate of Longwood College. She served for more than 20 years as the first librarian for Highland County and head been a member of the Monterey Garden Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bruce Rice Richardson Jr., who died April 4, 1994; a sister; and three brothers.
Surviving are four daughters and two sons-in-law, Patricia Czermak of Naples, Fla.; Mary Bruce and John Sullivan of Portland, Ore.; Linda and Dennis O’Hearn of Mustoe; and Jennifer Richardson of Monterey; a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas R. Richardson and Winnie of Monterey; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Sarah Bobbit of Montrose; two brothers, Joe Sullenberger of Staunton and Harmon Sullenberger of Monterey; a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Monterey Cemetery, with the Rev. C. William Cox presiding.
There will be no public viewing. The family will receive friends at the residence.
