Mary Simmons

Mary Evelyn (Shrader) Simmons, 90, of Head Waters, died on Thursday, October 30,1997 at Augusta Medical Center.

She was born August 6, 1907 at Pendleton County, WV, a daughter of the late John and Sidney (Pitsenbarger) Shrader.

She was a resident of Avante Nursing Home at Waynesboro for 12 years, She was a member of Head Waters Presbyterian Church. She operated Simmons Sawmill for a number of years and retired from Aileen Corp.

Her husband, Clyde Simmons, died on October 25, 1979.

Surviving are a daughter, Janice Warner of Monterey; three sons, Robert of Waynesboro, George of Hampton, Tenn., and Roger Simmons of Bridgewater; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Rev. Donald E. Rose, with burial at Head Waters Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be John Hodge, Elmo Varner, Gilmer Ervine and Mark, David and Keith Simmons.

Honorary pallbearers will be friends attending the service.

The family will receive friend 7-9 tonight. at the funeral home.
