Mary Bowers

Mary Emma Bowers, 84, of Monterey, died on Friday, March 22, 1996 at Staunton Manor Nursing Home.

She was born July 24, 1911 at McDowell, a daughter of Wilbur and Elva (Botkin) Ervine.

On June 16, 1927 she married Russel E. Bowers, who died on March 6, 1978.

She was a homemaker and member of the United Methodist church and Highland County Senior Citizens.

Surviving are three daughters, Mona Mae Helmick of Staunton. Thelma Arbogast of Richmond and Dorothy Vandevander of Monterey; a son, Melvin Bowers of Franklin, WV; a brother, Roscoe Ervine of Baltimore; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Rev. Malcolm Hill, with burial at the Bowers Family Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jim Skinner, Olin Waybright, Robert Lambert Jr., Ricky Doyle, Dale Ramsey, Wayne Arbogast, Jim Lisbon and Dale Hiner.

Honorary pallbearers will be friends attending the service.
