Marie Wilfong Simmons, 74, of Sugar Grove, W.Va., died Monday, April 17, 2000.
She was born July 15, 1925, at Rockingham County, Va., a daughter of Harry R. of Bridgewater, Va. and Drewry Whitmer Wilfong.
She married Gilbert C. Simmons on May 20, 1956. She was a homemaker, a member of Crummett Run Church of the Brethren and a member of VFW Post 9666 Ladies Auxiliary.
Survivors include her father; husband; four step-sisters, Madeline Huffman of Harrisonburg, Va., Jean of Mount Solon, Va., Anice Michael of Bridgewater, Va., and Beatrice Caracofe of Sangersville, Va.; nieces and nephews.
A service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Crummett Run Church of the Brethren by the Revs. Allen Pugh, Richard Boggs and Jerry Smith, with burial in Sugar Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Dinnie Hull, Dennis and Barry Simmons, Dick Armstrong, Mark Lambert and Kenny Crummett.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Rexrode, Amy Gardiner, Penny Houck, Kathy Lambert, Larry, Phyllis and Vernon Simmons, Jeannie Williams, Betty Click, Audrey Tumer and Carl Moyers.
The family will receive frims from 7-8 tonight at Obaugh Funeral Home.
