Margaret Mitchell Propst, 88, died Wednesday, January 30, 2002 at the King’s Daughters’ Community Hospital and rehabilitation Center.
She was born July 26, 1913 at Highland county, a daughter of Elizabeth Mitchell.
She was a past member of St. Michael’s Lutheran Church at Sugar Grove, W.Va. In 1971, she moved to Mount Sidney and joined Mount Sidney United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Highland Home Demonstration Club. She retired from the Shen-Mar Poultry Plant.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Rosser Propst, who died March 8, 1986; a daughter, Ruth P. Hiner; a son, Habert D. Propst and a grandson, Garth C. Propst Jr.
Surviving are four daughters and sons-in-law, Ann P. Stoffel and her husband, Ernie of Burlington, N.C.; Geraldine P. Brooks and her husband, Wayne, of Waynesboro; Carolyn P. Stephenson and her husband, Jim, of Verona; a son and daughter-in-law, Garth C. Propst and his wife, Dorothy, of Virginia Beach; two brothers, Frank Mitchell of Falls Church and Warren Mitchell of Sugar Grove, W.Va.; 23 grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Obaugh Funeral Home with the Rev. Ned S. VanDyck officiating. Burial will be at Head Waters Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Nathan and Manuel Propst, Audwid Hodge, Merlin Stephenson, Tony Curry and Michael Ralston.
Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and other times at the homes of Betty Estep and Carolyn Stephenson.
