Margaret Puffenbarger Newlen, 81, of Monterey, died Monday, April 16, 2001 at her residence.
She was born August 10, 1919 at Blue Grass, a daughter of Albert and Eliza (Fleisher) Puffenbarger.
She was a member of Union chapel Church. She was a homemaker and owned and operated Puffenbarger’s Store in Blue Grass for a number of years.
On May 1, 1948, she married Charles R. Newlen Sr., who preceded her in death on October 19, 1985. She was also preceded in death by a son, Charles Newlen Jr. on February 7, 1999; and a brother Harry Puffenbarger.
Survivors include four daughters, Louise Shiplett of Verona, Glenna Neil of McDowell, Janet Wimer of Blue Grass and Joyce Griffin of Monterey; a son, Ralph Newlen of Blue Grass; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ina Wimer of Staunton, Lillian Puffenbarger of Hot Springs and Gladys Mullenax of Franklin, W.Va.; a brother Dale Puffenbarger of Monterey.
A service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Rev. Jerry Ginn, with burial in Blue Grass Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Roy Kimble Jr., Bo Folks, Conley Colaw, Billy Mullenax, Alan Puffenbarger and Glen Riggleman.
Honorary pallbearers will be friends and relatives attending the service.
Friends may call at the funeral home or other times at the home of her children.
