Margaret Gum

Margaret Katherine Gum, 87, died on Sunday, November 29,1998 at Rockingham Memorial Hosptial.

She was born on July 30,1911 at Monterey, a daughter of Arthur Marcellous and Lydia Ellen (Jones) Simmons.

She was a homemaker, a member of Monterey Presbyterian Church.

On February 28, 1938, she married Alfred S. Fum, who preceded her in death in 1969.

She is survived by three daughters, Mary Ellen Gutshall of Monterey, Fannie Thompson of Elkton and Ruby Rawley of Mount Solon; two sisters, Margie Simmons and Helen Moats, both of Monterey; seven grandchildren; a great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Blair S. Gum.

A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, at Obauigh Funeral Home by the Rev. Donald E. Rose, with burial in Monterey Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Allen, Grady and Eddie Gutshall, Melvin Simmons Jr., Tim Malcolm, Jerry Moats, Jimmy Lightner and Gene McElwee.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
