Mabel Clara Hatcher, 91, of McDowell, passed away, Monday, Jan. 10, 2011 at the home of her daughter.
She was born May 24, 1919 in Pendleton County, W.Va., a daughter of the late John Floyd and Mattie Emma Simmons Moats.
Mrs. Hatcher was a homemaker and a member of McKendree United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, the Mc- Dowell Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and loved to attend Highland Senior Citizens.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Hatcher; a son, William Gilbert Hatcher; a grandson, Tommy Hatcher; and nine brothers, Floyd, Luther, Rembert, John, Grover, Randolph, Gene, Bob and Ed Moats.
She is survived by a daughter and son-inlaw, Louise and Ray Botkin of McDowell; a son and daughter-in-law, Russell Lee Jr. and Nancy Hatcher of Takoma Park, Md.; a grandson, Danny Hatcher of Takoma Park, Md.; a granddaughter, Candi Lowry and husband Jerry of Millboro; two great-granddaughters, Dystenie and Stephani Lowry; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 14, at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell with the Rev. Dave Boger, the Rev. Charles Townsend and Lewie Strite officiating.
Burial will be in McKendree Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Jake Botkin, Richard Thompson, Rudolph Siron, Glenn Heatwole, Richard Botkin, Bill Huffman, Scott and Joe Neil.
Honorary pallbearers will be friends attending the service.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Obaugh Funeral Home.
