Lucy Botkin

Lucy McCray Botkin, 87, of Head Waters, died Saturday, May 6, 2000 at Augusta Medical Center.

She was born February 9, 1913, at Head Waters, a daughter of Owen Resse and Louie Viola (Armstrong) McCray.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Head Waters Presbyterian Church and a member of the McDowell Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert L. Botkin, on June 30, 1993, and a son, Robin Botkin, on December 10, 1991, four brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Kristin and Gary Tilt of Douglasville, Ga.; a son and Owen C. and Carolyn Botkin of Annandale; two brothers, Leo of McDowell and earl McCray of Deerfield; five sisters-in-law Pearl McCray of McDowell, Anna Lee McCray and Dorothy McCray of Head Waters, Myrtle Hoover of Doe Hill; two brothers-in-law, Bennie Ralston of McDowell and Gernon Hoover of Doe Hill; four grandchildren, Mike Hardin of Simpsonville, S.C., Rachel Botkin of Washington, D.C, Kelli Hardin of Douglasville, Ga., and Daniel Botkin of Annandale; and nieces and nephews.

A service will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Rev. Lester LaPrade with burial in Head Waters Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Benny Ralston, Dennis Armstrong, Ronnie Miller, Dennis Barnes, Bob Simmons and Ralph Fadeley.

Honorary pallbearers will be nephews.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 this evening at the funeral home.
