Louise Botkin

McDOWELL, VA Louise Botkin, 74, of McDowell passed away, Thursday, April 24, 2014 at Augusta Health. She was born October 27, 1939 in McDowell a daughter of the late Russell Lee, Sr. and Mabel Clara (Moats) Hatcher. Louise was a homemaker and a devoted caregiver for many family members. Also, she had worked at Aileen, Inc. and Highland Data. She was a member of McKendree United Methodist Church and enjoyed cooking and gardening. Just hours after her passing, her husband, Charles Ray Botkin also passed away. She was also predeceased by her son, Thomas Walton "Tommy" Hatcher; brother, William Gilbert "Gibby" Hatcher and nephew, Danny Hatcher. She is survived by her brother, Russell Lee Hatcher, Jr and wife, Nancy of Takoma Park, MD; niece, Candi Lowry of Millboro and three sisters-in-law, Jerry Armstrong of Deerfield, Wilma Simmons of Verona and Mary Ardella Botkin of Waynesboro. A memorial service honoring both Louise and Ray will be conducted 2 p.m., Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell with the Rev. Dave Boger officiating. Inurnment will follow at McKendree Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home.
