Lorraine "Tiny" Hooke

February 26, 1923 — March 18, 2009

Lorraine “Tiny” Hooke, 86, of Monterey, died Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at Bath Community Hospital.  She was born February 26, 1923 in Highland County a daughter of Elmer Harry and Argyle Grace (Arbogast) Nicholas.

Mrs. Hooke was a homemaker and a member of the Monterey Presbyterian Church.  She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, golf and visiting on her front porch.

Her husband, George W. Hooke, Jr. preceded her in death on December 25, 1991.

She is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, George Wickline, III and Beatrice Hooke of Monterey, John W. and Patricia Hooke of Ozark, MO, Randy and Nancy Hooke of Monterey and Jerry L. and Pattie Hooke of Monterey, five grandsons, Nick Hooke of Mitchelltown, Eric Hooke and wife, Stacie of Hot Springs, William A. Hooke and wife, Amy of Grottos, Ryan Hooke of Hopatcong, NJ and Greg Hooke and wife, Tarah of Staunton; three great-granddaughters, Lily, Emma and Alison Hooke; a sister, Maxine Perkins of Staunton and special caregivers, Dr. Daniel Freed, Betty Hotz, Nancy White, Margaret Beverage, Crissy Marshall and Courtney Will.

A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m., Monday, March 23, 2009 at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell with the Rev. Andre Crummett and Pastor Chip Hill officiating.  The casket will be closed.

Burial will be in Monterey Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Andy Hupman, Joe Simmons, Carlton Hull, Allan Hull, Loy Harvey and Mike Hollar.  Honorary pallbearers will be Gideon Hiner, Kelly Botkin, Peggy Hiner, Janice Warner, Dorsey Kelly, John Reynolds, Jacob Hevener, Tom Wilson, former employees of Hooke Brothers Lumber Company and members of Needle’s Eye Golf Course.
