STAUNTON, VA Lois D. Varner, 73, of Staunton, passed away Thursday, May 15, 2014 at Augusta Health. She was born November 19, 1940 in Vian, AR, a daughter of the late Jack and Bonnie Lorene (Milligan) Craighead. Mrs. Varner was a homemaker, who enjoyed gardening, especially flower gardening, as well as bingo. A kind person, she always did for others before herself and loved time spent with her grandchildren. On October 9, 1957, she married Sandy J. Varner, who preceded her in death on September 9, 1994. She was also predeceased by two brothers and her sister. She is survived by three sons, Jerry Varner and wife, Barbara of Monterey, Danny Varner of Woodstock and Glen Varner of Lexington; two daughters, Cathy Puffenbarger of Sugar Grove, WV and Sandra Botkin and husband, Doug of Churchville; seven grandchildren, Miranda Wagoner, Timmy Varner, Tabitha Brogan, Douglas Dean Botkin and his wife, Brianna, Danielle Sisson, Dillon Varner and Dakota Varner; nine great-grandchildren; five sisters; two brothers and thirty-five nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, May 18, 2014 at Obaugh Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Crummett Run Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Tom Jones, Gilbert Pullin, Tom Griffin, Nelson Simmons, Ronnie Lambert and Jay Varner The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.
