Lester Simmons, 76, of Steeles Tavern, died Wednesday June 1, 2005, at his home.
Mr. Simmons was born December 22, 1928, in Pendleton County, W.Va. and was the son of the late Albert Adam and Louella Beatrice Moyers Simmons.
He has worked at Augusta Lumber Company in Staunton.
Surviving are a sister Gladys Van Pelt of Mount Crawford; a nephew and caregiver, Royal Lee Simmons Sr.; and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
The Rev. Richard S. Gibson will conduct a graveside funeral 2 p.m. Saturday in the Blue Grass Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. today at the family’s residence.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lester Simmons Memorial Fund, in care of Royal Lee Simmons Sr., 489 Almo Chapel Road, Steeles Tavern, Va. 24476.
