Lester James Botkin, 85, a retired farmer of McDowell, died on Friday evening, October 16th, 1992 at Staunton Manor Nursing Home.
He was born on August 31st, 1907 in Doe Hill, a son of Allie McCray.
On April 16th, 1938, he married the former Beulah Varner.
He had worked at the Monterey Livestock Market for a number of years. He also did custom slaughtering and was caretaker of several community cemeteries.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Herbert Botkin of McDowell; foster daughter, Patsy Wingfield of Staunton; foster son, Larry Armstrong of Dayton, a sister, Irene Mitchell; of Churchville; a grandson, Douglas Botkin of Doe Hill, great grandson, Douglas Dean, of Doe Hill; foster granddaughter, Deanna Conner of Staunton, and foster grandsons, Shawn and Chris Armstrong of Dayton.
A service will be conducted at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Rev. John Garber, with burial at Doe Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Nelson Simmons, Tom Jones, Charles Carner, Glen Botkin Jr., Ray Kisamore, Glen Britt and Benny and Donnie Armstrong.
Memorial may be made to Highland Rescue Squad, in care of James Thompson, Monterey, Va. 24465.
