Leona S. Pitsenbarger, 73, died Monday, December 20, 1999 at Living Waters Assisted Living in Fishersville.
She was born October 10, 1926 at Sugar Grove, W.Va. , a daughter of Ernie Lloyd and Sarah Elizabeth (Simmons) Simmons.
On June 23, 1956, she married Robert “Byron” Pitsenbarger, who preceded her in death April 12, 1993.
She was a housewife and a member of Head Waters Presbyterian Chapel, the Presbyterian Women and the McDowell Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by a sister, Lena Puffenbarger of Bridgewater; a sister-in-law, Ruth Simmons of Franklin, W.Va.; an uncle, Clarence Simmons of Franklin; two nieces, Gladys Matheny and Norma Rines, both of Bridgewater; two great-nephews, Mark Matheny of the Navy and Keith Rines of Blacksburg; and a great-niece, Amy Rines of Richmond.
A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Rev. Lester LaPrade, with burial in Head Waters Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Nelson Simmons, Donnie Botkin, Francis Florence, Robert Armstrong, Eugene Mitchell, Adam Botkin, David Ralston and Elmo Varner.
Honorary pallbearers will be Joy Smith, Fay Simmons, Orpha varner, Joanna Arey, Gilmer Ervine, Delbert Armstrong, Bill Puffenbarger, Virginia Armstrong, Leonard Tolley Jr., Steve Varner, William Leach, Norman Liskey, George E. Bryan, Jr.; Truman Arey, Roy Gutshall and John Custer.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Obaugh Funeral Home.
