Kathryn Wimer Mauzy, 92, of Monterey, formerly of Blue Grass, died Friday, August 31, 2001 at Oak Lea Nursing Home in Harrisonburg. She was born November 14, 1908 at Blue Grass, a daughter of Frank Cameron and Bonnie Kate (Wimer) Wimer.
She was a retired bookkeeper with the Blue Grass Valley Bank. She was a member of the Monterey Presbyterian Church and was an organist and pianist at the former Crabbottom Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the order of the Eastern Star.
Her husband, Robert E. “Dick” Mauzy Sr. preceded her in death on June 13, 1987. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Margaret Hull, Virginia Hammer and Ruth Mauzy and three brothers, Miller, Alfred and Eugene Wimer.
She is survived by a son R.E. “Bob” Mauzy Jr. of Blue Grass; two sisters, Janet Pulley of Springfield and Dorothy Hevener of Harrisonburg and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, September 3, 2001 at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Rev. James W. “Bill” Monroe.
Burial will be in Blue Grass Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Julian Pulley, Jim Mauzy, Randy Mauzy, Frank Pulley, Bill Bratton, Christopher Pohowsky, Jed Thomas, Ralph Newman and David Kiser.
Honorary pallbearers will be friends and neighbors attending the service.
The casket will be closed and there will be no formal visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
