Kathleen "Bunn" (Herold) Lunsford, 85, a retired jazz pianist, church organist and band leader, died Monday, March 22, 1993 at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.
She was a resident of the Bridgewater Home and had lived in the Staunton area for many years.
She was born in Mill Gap, a daughter of Horace and Millie (Gilmore) Herold. She attended West Virginia University and was married to Charles W. Lunsford in 1929.
She taught music in the Pendleton County, WV count schools and during World War II was active in the war effort as administrator of the O.P.A. in Franklin, WV.
Upon returning to Staunton to care for her mother, she accepted a job as the Hammond Organ representative for Miles Music in Staunton and Harrisonburg.
Survivors include a son, James G. Lunsford of Haymarket; two sisters, Mabel Sullenberger of Monterey and Nell Talbot of Grass Valley, Calif.; five grandchildren ; and seven great-grandchildren.
A service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Obaugh Funeral in McDowell by the Rev. C. William Cox. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Gill, Hall and Michael Lunsford, John Dingus, Ted Province and Red Whitelaw.
Friend may call at the funeral home at anytime. There will be no public viewing. Memorial contributions may be made to Bridgewater Home, N. 2nd St., Bridgewater, Va.. 22812.
