Jr. Hatcher

TAKOMA PARK, MD Russell Lee Hatcher, Jr., 70, of Takoma Park, MD, passed away Monday, February 16, 2015 at his home. He was born August 5, 1944 in McDowell a son of the late Russell Lee and Mabel Clara (Moats) Hatcher. Junior was a brick mason for 39 years and later installed windows and siding. He was a member of the McKendree United Methodist Church. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his son, Danny Lee Hatcher; brother, William "Gibby" Gilbert Hatcher; sister, Louise Botkin and his nephew, Tommy Hatcher. Surviving is his wife, Nancy Ann (Simmons) Hatcher, whom he married December 31, 1966. A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m., Tuesday, February 24, 2015 in McKendree Cemetery with the Rev. Dave Boger officiating. Active pallbearers will be Cecil Moats, Ray Cox, Michael Moats, Gary Wimer, Kyle Obaugh and Toby Siron. There will be no public viewing. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to McKendree Cemetery, c/o Sandy Botkin, P.O. Box 23, McDowell, VA 24458.
