Josephine "Jo-Ann" Swecker
July 12, 1936 — June 10, 2010
Josephine Ann “Jo-Ann” Swecker, 73, of Glen Allen and formerly of Blue Grass, passed away, Thursday, June 10, 2010 at her home. She was born July 12, 1936 at Blue Grass a daughter of the late John Meade and Gladys May (Mullenax) Swecker.
Mrs. Swecker was a homemaker and a hairdresser for 25 years. She was a former member of Crabbottom Presbyterian Church. She was fondly known as “Nan” and was loved by all the children who came into her life.
On October 19, 1963, she married Robert David “Shrimp” Swecker who preceded her in death on March 27, 2000. She was also predeceased by two sisters, Edith Swecker and Charlotte Arbogast and two brothers, infant, Randolph Swecker and Richard Swecker.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Brian Palmer of Chester; four grandchildren, Cody and Jeremy Rogers, Lyn and Brian Palmer, II; a sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Gerald Blank of Harrisonburg and two brothers and sisters-in-law, J. Meade, Jr. and Toby Swecker of Blue Grass and Harry and Jane Swecker of Mint Springs.
A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m., Sunday, June 13, 2010 at Blue Grass Cemetery with the Rev. Richard S. Gibson officiating.
Pallbearers will be Travis Shoaf, Joseph Gormus, Tyler Stocks, Jeramy Machia, Logan Dowdy and Nick Estock.
