ALEXANDRIA Joseph Waybright, 82, of Alexandria and formerly of Blue Grass, passed away Monday, April 29, 2013 in INOVA Alexandria Hospital. He was born June 27, 1930 in Cherry Grove, WV a son of the late Troy and Kate (Warner) Waybright. Mr. Waybright was retired from the Federal Government after serving 30 years working at the Smithsonian Institution. He served in the U.S. Army and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ina Jean (Hevener) Waybright; his daughter, Diana Looney and husband, Michael of Lorton; two sisters, Elizabeth Foster of St. Roberts, MO and Ardath Murphy and husband, Herman of Cherry Grove, WV; brother-in-law; Charles Julian Hevener and wife, Dotty of Churchville; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Daniel Waybright; five sisters, Tudie Mullenax, Theresa Lambert, Gwendolyn Day, Dolf Heise and Connie Marshall and four brothers, Vivin, Thomas, Warner and Troy Waybright. A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m., Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell with the Rev. Andre Crummett officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Grass Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, May 3 at the funeral home.
