Johnny Pennybacker

July 31, 1913 — April 22, 2001

Johnny “Wyatt” Pennybacker, 87, of Blue Grass, died Sunday, April 22, 2001 at the Pendleton County Nursing Home in Franklin, W.Va.

He was born July 31, 1913 at Franklin, W.Va., a son of Thomas Wyatt and Alpha Susan (Nelson) Pennybacker.

He was a member of the former Crabbottom Presbyterian Church and was a Navy veteran. He retired October 31, 1969, from the Naval Ordnance Laboratory. He was a member of the Highland VFW Post 4989.

On May 30, 1941, he married Juanita (Swecker) Pennybacker, who preceded him in death on March 10, 1998. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Ida Shipley.

Survivors include a number of nieces and nephews.

A service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Blue Grass Cemetery by the Rev. James W. Moore.

Friends may call at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell or at the home of David Kiser in Blue Grass.

Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
