Johnny Lloyd Moats, 77, of Harrisonburg and formerly of McDowell, died Thursday, September 7, 2000 at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.
He was born July 14, 1923, at McDowell, a son of John Floyd and Mattie Emma (Simmons) Moats.
He was a former member of McKendree United Methodist Church. Prior to his illness, he was employed by Whitesel Brothers Inc. as a small engine mechanic.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Mildred M. (Vandevander) Moats of Harrisonburg; two daughters and a son-in-law, Doris and William S. Trenary of Clearbrook and Cathern Siron of Stuarts Draft; two grandsons, Garnett Lyle Siron and Matthew Douglas Siron, of Harrisonburg; a sister, Mabel Hatcher of McDowell; two brothers, Randolph Moats of Baltimore, Md. and Rempert Moats of Joppa, Md.; and nieces and nephews.
A service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Rev. Charles W. Townsend with burial in McKendree Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Rudolph Siron, Dolan Puffenbarger, Jim Armstrong, Scott Fox, Delmas and Richard Moats.
Honorary pallbearers will be his nieces.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
