Johnny William Adkins, 48, of Swoope died Thursday morning, October 8, 1992 in King's Daughters' Hospital.

He was born May 19, 1944, a son of Ernest James and Lida Alice (Willis) Adkins.

He had attended the Mountain View Church of Christ and was a truck driver before his illness.

Survivors include two sons, Johnny William Jr. and Michael Wayne Adkins, both of Richmond; a sister, Mabel Gill of Staunton; three brothers, Oakie of Staunton, Junior P. of Hallsville, Texas and Bonny Adkins of Baltimore, Mr.; special friends, Dorothy McCray of Doe Hill and Robert Drumheller of Staunton; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Essie Lee Wiseman.

A service will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday at Doe Hill Cemetery by the Rev. Steve McMillion.

Pallbearers will be Alfred L. and Robert L. McCray, Junior Bodkin, Herbert Botkin and Scotty and Larry Armstrong.

The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Saturday at Obaugh Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Dorothy McCray in Doe Hill.
