Johnnie Ray Simmons, 45, died Saturday, June 10, 2000 at his residence.
He was born April 6, 1955, at Staunton, a son of Edward R. “Jake” and Jean Hatcher Simmons.
He had been a carpenter for Rexrode Masonry and Tile and was a member of Lifeline Ministries at Mitchelltown.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Baldwin Simmons, of McDowell; a daughter, April Michelle Simmons, of McDowell; a twin sister and brother-in-law, Connie F. and David Simmons, of McDowell; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Wayne and Donna Simmons, of Woodbridge and Leonard and Linda Simmons, of McDowell; a maternal grandmother, Marie Hatcher, of McDowell; two nieces and three nephews.
A service will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Revs. Lenny Stinnett and Frankie Neff with burial in the Crummett Family Cemetery, two miles north of McDowell.
Pallbearers will be Scotty Green, Jerry Rexrode, Mike and Bob Ralston, Lee Shifflet, David Lightner and Ralph Arbogast.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the McDowell Fire Department and the Highland Rescue Squad.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 Monday evening at the funeral home and at other time at his residence.
