John Madison Hoy, 69, of Deerfield, passed away Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012 at his home.
He was born July 14, 1942 in Deerfield, a son of the late Elmer Lawrence and Ruth Rebecca Revercomb Hoy.
Mr. Hoy had retired as a U.S. Postal supervisor in McLean. When living in Loudoun County he raised thoroughbred horses, and horse racing was his favorite sport. He was also an avid Redskins, New York Yankees and Lakers fan. He and his wife were the owners and operators of D.J.’s Whiteway Lunch, a member of Deerfield Baptist Church and a lifetime member of Deerfield Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife, D’Arlene Tarzian Hoy, whom he married on Oct. 3, 1964; a daughter and son-in-law, Deanna H. and James Yoxthimer of Purcellville; three grandchildren, John Virgil, Danielle Nicole and Jason Thomas Yoxthimer; and a sister, Rebecca H. Stevens of Richmond.
A memorial service will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012 at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell by the Rev. Curtis Crawford and the Rev. Claude Williams.
Inurnment will follow at Cloverdale Cemetery.
Visitation will follow at the residence in Deerfield.
