Jessie Marie Simmons, 48, of Mt. Sidney, died on Monday, November 2, 1998 at the residence of her daughter in Raphine.

She was born On May 11, 1950, at McDowell, a daughter of Bertha O. of McDowell and Edward Albert Moats.

She was a member of McDowell United Methodist Church. She was employed at Thomas House, Dayton.

In addition to her mother, serving are a daughter, Carol L. Mengert of Raphine; two sons and a daughter-in-law Dwayne R. and Sherri Simmons and Allen W. Simmons, all of Staunton; three sisters, Linda M. Hurt of Millboro, Stella L. Howdyshell of Mt. Solon, and Wanda G. Malcolm of Monterey; three brothers, Albert E. of McDowell, and Jerry L. and Gary W. Moats , both of Staunton; five grandchildren, Heather M. and Robert W. Mengert, and Whitney N. of Staunton, Zachary W. and JoWanna R. Simmons; a finace, Kenny K. Kesterson; special friends, Wayne R. Simmons, Brenda Catlett, James Carter, Teresa Tester and Carrie Patterson.

She was preceded in death by her father, Edward A. Moats in June 1998.

A service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Rev. Charles Townsend, with burial in Oak Lawn Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be James Carter, Kenny Mengert, George Hurt, James Huffer, Mike Simmons and Michael Moats.

Honorary pallbearers will be nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight Obaugh Funeral Home.
