Jeremy Helmick

Jeremy Stuart Helmick, 30, of Monterey, died Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.  He was born March 12, 1977 at Staunton.  His parents, Michael Leonard and Linda Lee (Wade) Helmick preceded him in death.  He was also predeceased by a sister, Brandi Lynn Helmick on February 13, 2006.

He was a member of Green Hill United Methodist Church and Highland Volunteer Fire Department.  He enjoyed building model cars and RC Racing.  He had worked at VDOT and with Ward Family Promotions, a pro-wrestling organization and was a former deejay for WVLS.

He is survived by his maternal grandmother, with whom he lived, Jackie S. Wade of Monterey; an uncle, R.B. Wade of Crozet; an aunt, Grace Botkin of Monterey and a number of cousins.

A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m., Saturday, February 16, 2008 at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell by the Rev. Derek Tomek and Rev. Richard Gibson.

Burial will be in the Wade Family Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be J.R. Botkin, Justin Botkin, J.R. Simmons, Justin Will, Brad Lowry, Allen Lowry, Stevie Sweitzer, Elmer Waybright and Travis Halterman.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Highland Volunteer Fire Department.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.  The casket will be closed.
