Jean Elizabeth Callison, 94, widow of Homer “Dutch” Lamme Callison of Monterey, passed away Thursday, January 23, 2020 at her home.
She was born April 20, 1925 in Covington, a daughter of the late Herman William and Bessie Hazeltine (Rogers) Campbell.
Mrs. Callison was retired from C&P Telephone Company, where she enjoyed a full and meaningful career. Following retirement she and Dutch relocated to Highland County, there she joined Highland Baptist Church and faithfully attended both Sunday school and worship services. Within the Church she directed the church choir for many years, participated in “Women on Mission” endeavors and formed the Ladies Lunch Bunch. Additionally, she delivered Meals on Wheels throughout the community and enjoyed visiting the elderly in nearby nursing homes, always using these opportunities to promote her Lord.
In addition to her parents and husband of 65 years, she was predeceased by her brothers Herman William Jr. and Guy Martin Campbell.
Mrs. Callison is survived by her sister-in-law, Debeorah L. Callison of Stuarts Draft; nieces, Jolene Dare Callison Weigel of Manassas, Jacqueline Annette Callison of Union Bridge, MD, Lea Michelle Burden of Greeley, CO and Lisa Campbell; a grand-nephew; six grand-nieces; two great grand-nieces; as well as her devoted church family.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 26, 2020 at Highland Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Davis officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
A committal service will take place the following day at 12 p.m., Monday, January 27, 2020 in Leeds Cemetery in Markham, Va.
Active pallbearers will be Terry King, Aaron King, Ed Hershman, Larry Propst and Todd Brendel.
Honorary pallbearers will be friends attending the service.
