Jayne Beverage

MONTEREY Jayne S. Beverage, 93, of Monterey, passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at Emeritus of Staunton. Born on October 29, 1921 in Norfolk, Virginia, she was the daughter of William H. and Amelia (Kellam) Smith. She is preceded in death by her husband William Nicholas Beverage and a daughter, Nicola (Beverage) O'Connor. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Edward Magilley of Charlotte, NC; three sons and daughters-in-law, James and Gee Beverage of Charlottesville, Jerome and Gail Beverage of Richmond and William N. Beverage Jr. of Richmond; son-in-law Dennis O'Connor of Waynesboro, eleven grandchildren, Ted, Brian and Mark Magilley, Ryan and Devon O'Connor, Justin Beverage and Erin (Beverage) Loudin, Beck, Sam and Hannah Beverage and Nicole Beverage; six great-grandchildren, Luke, Nick, Nate and Dylan Magilley, Sarah O'Connor and Henry Loudin. She was committed to her three passions in life, her family, the community of Highland Co., and her love of horses. For more than a decade in the 1960's-70's, she was a dedicated volunteer lifeguard at the Monterey swimming pool. She was also an active contributor and participant in the Highland Maple Festival and the Highland County Fair. As an avid horsewoman, she taught many adults and children to ride both in Newport News and Highland County. She, along with her husband Nick, was a devoted founding member of the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Blue Grass Virginia. A graveside memorial service will be conducted 11 a.m., Saturday, March 28, 2015 in Monterey Cemetery. A reception will follow the service at Monterey United Methodist Church.
