Jason Teter

Jason Wayne Teter, 70, of Swoope, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2019 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.

He was born in Hightown, April 6, 1948, the son of the late Jason Teter and Virginia Puffenbarger.

On August 1, 1970, he married Loretta Sue Rexrode.

Wayne worked at Smith Transfer until its closing. He and his sons, started building fence, building miles and miles of fence throughout Augusta and neighboring counties. He was a charter member of the Western Augusta Steam & Gas Association and member of Virginia Chapter 41 International Harvester Collectors, as his passion was collecting antique tractors and farm equipment.

He loved the outdoors and time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. Wayne will be remembered for his contagious smile and his ability to be a friend for life after you met him for the first time.

In addition to his wife, Loretta Rexrode Teter; he is survived by two sons, Tim Teter and William “Chad” Teter and wife, Dixie; four grandchildren, Emma, Ethan, Jason and Lori Teter, all of Swoope; special cousins David Vann, Raymond Grogg and Patsy Moyers; as well as a large number of cousins.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, March 7, 2019 at Word of Faith Church, Water Street, Monterey by the Rev. Dennis Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Grass Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Pallbearers will be Park Joy, Harrison Joy, Lyle Sprouse, Brian Landes, Brad Long and Phillip Coffman.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Western Augusta Steam & Gas Association and International Harvester Collectors Chapter 41.
