Janet G. Grogg, 85, of Hightown, died Sunday evening, July 26, 1992 in the Pendleton Nursing Home in Franklin, WV.
She was born June 14, 1907 in Highland County and was the daughter of the late John Robert and Alta (Slayton) Griffin.
She was a member of Highland Baptist. She lived in Virginia most of her life. She was a Staunton resident at the time of her retirement from DeJarnette State Hospital in 1969 where she had been employed for 20 years.
After her retirement, she moved to Tallahassee, Fla., and remained there until she suffered a disabling stroke in 1989. At that time, she returned to Highland County and made her home with her daughter and son-in-law, Twila Mae and Leonard E. Phillips of Hightown.
Besides her daughter and son-in-law, she is survived by a grandson, Jerrel E. and wife Angele Kay Phillips of Tallahassee, Fla.; two great-granddaughters, Misty and Melissa Phillips of Tallahassee; a sister, Grace M. Griffin of Monterey; a brother, Richard Griffin of Staunton; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell by the Rev. Jerry Ginn. Burial will follow in Blue Grass Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be O.C. Reese, Elmer Ruckman, Raymond Armstrong, Jim Saris, Sammy Bogan, James Varner, Junior Kimble, Robin Vance and Rodger Moyers.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. T.E. Billingsley, Dr. Luke Eye, William Wolfe, John Wilfong, C. Raymon Dix and friends attending the service.
