Jane Wilson Hough

Jane Wilson Hough, age 78, wife of Larry Hough, of Monterey, passed away Friday, January 17, 2024 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.

Born June 26, 1946 in Burlington, Wisconsin, Jane was a daughter of the late John Alexander and Ruth (Bradt) Wilson.

In 2014, Jane retired from Virginia Farm Bureau, with over thirty years of service working as an administrative assistant within the Monterey office. In the years following she spent a great majority of her time with Larry. Together, they enjoyed traveling, time spent with family and friends, and especially their daily walks through Monterey.

Those that knew her will remember she was always a very active person who enjoyed bicycling, swimming, playing tennis, canoeing, camping, in-line skating, and in her youth, ice skating. Among her many interests and appreciations were also playing board and card games, bird watching, picnicking, and sending greeting cards to brighten others day. Additionally, Jane was a very gifted lady whose talents were reflected in the beautiful cards she handcrafted, the meals she prepared for family and friends to enjoy around her dinner table, and in the flair showcased in her cake decorating.

A devout Christian, Jane was an active and long-time member of Living Faith Church, Franklin, WV. She had also held membership with the Highland High School Band Boosters and the Twins Club, worked to advocate and support Weekday Religious Education within Highland County, and was a former Board Member of the Highland County Public Library.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Robert Skwierawski.

Surviving family members include her husband of 57 years; daughters, Heather Hough of Covington, Amanda Fuller and husband, Ron of Manchester, TN, Amber Hubbard and husband, Paul of Thornton, CO; grandchildren, William Hubbard, Benjamin Hubbard, Emma Hubbard, Julia Hubbard, and Sarita Hough; sister, Mary Skwierawski of Burlington, WI; brother-in-law, Gerald Hough and wife, Julia of Bloomington, IL; step-sister, Patricia Snow and husband, Marty of Lutz, FL; step mother-in-law, Helen Hough of Largo, FL.; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, January 25, 2025 at Living Faith Church, Franklin, WV, with pastor Brad Mitchell officiating. The family will receive friends following the service during a meal of fellowship, also at the church. A private interment will be conducted in Monterey Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Kyle Almond, Scott Smith, Rick Lambert, Mike Waggy, Rock Evick, Greg Lambert, and Mark Bowman.
