James "Jimmy" Rexrode

November 21, 1957 — October 21, 1999

James “Jimmy” E. Rexrode, 41, died Thursday, October 21, 1999 at Hightown, as a result of a farming accident.

He was born November 21, 1957, at Bath County, a son of Everett H. and Anna Lee (Murphy) Rexrode.

He married Julie Wooddell on August 1, 1981. He was a farmer and attended Hightown United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of Highland High School.

In addition to his wife and parents of Hightown, surviving are a daughter, Jaimie Marie Rexrode at home; a son, James Derek Rexrode at home; three sisters, Phyllis R. Plyler of Waynesboro, Mary R. Taylor of Staunton and Penny R. Wooddell of Monterey; maternal grandmother, Gustava M. Hiner of Harrisonburg; mother- and father- in-law, Darlene and Hugh Wooddell of Burnsville; grandmother-in-law, Ester Marie Wooddell of Burnsville and nieces and nephews.

A service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Revs. Richard S. Gibson, Joseph C. Bradford and George Taylor, with burial in the Rexrode Family Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be David Botkin, Richard Hevener, Jim Pitsenbarger, Otis Hartman, Steve and Henry Bird, Don Ailstock, Ronald Simmons, Junior Smith and Ronald Moyers.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ivan and Doug Puffenbarger, Steve Hise, Jerry Shifflett, Jacob Hevener, Herb Lightner, Larry Whitecotton, Bardon Warner, Richard Mullenax, Sam Hise and members of the Big Ridge Hunt Club.

The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to a charity of choice in his memory.
