James "Jim" Hefner

James “Jim” Lee Hefner, 61, of Mill, Gap, died Tuesday, December 12, 2000 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Hefner was born December 7, 1939, in Mill Gap, and was a son of the late Otis John and Annie Margaret Sheets Hefner.

He was employed by the Virginia Department of Transportation for 37 years and was a member of Beulah Presbyterian Church, where he was a past deacon. He served in the U.S. Army.

On June 20, 1959, he married Irene Virginia Arbogast, who survives.

Also surviving are a son, Jeffery Lee Hefner of Harrisonburg; a brother, William “Ross” Hefner of Monterey; three sisters, Shirley Buchanan and Charlotte Mullenax of Gloucester, and Mary Ellen Hull of Doe Hill; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The Rev. James W. “Bill” Moore will conduct a memorial service at 2 p.m. Sunday at Obaugh Funeral Home.

His body will be cremated.
